The Beginnings “How Did This Happen?” video begins…

I grew up in Russia. I went to Japan for three years of study for economics and law.

I went back to Russia to work, but the economy had crashed. I earned 300 a month, but rent was 200.

My grandma couldn’t work because of her back problems. We had to buy medicine for her pain.

So I decided to go to another country to find a job there. I answered an ad in a newspaper to work as a waitress in Greece.

I gave them my passport and signed a contract for six months. They picked me up at the airport and drove me to a house…

They told me, you’re not going to work as a waitress. You have another job now. I showed them the contract. They tore it up.

They said, forget what we said in Russia, you have a new job now. You have to work in a strip club and dance for men.

Charlie Hall appears on stage as the video finishes with a “To Be Continued…

4. Once For All – Charlie Hall

5. Give Us Clean Hands W/ We Cannot Make It On Our Own – Charlie Hall

6. Center w/ Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – Charlie Hall

7. Jesus, My All ? – Charlie Hall NEW SONG

8. Mystery – Charlie Hall

Session Notes: Francis Chan

I believe with all of my heart that He died. He see us. He hears us.

Do you understand the weight of that? Of Jesus coming down in all of His glory. That he’s really going to come back like that. Picture Jesus in heaven right now. Rev. 5. 10,000×10,000 worshiping at His throne.

I believe that Christ is going to come again. Man. Can we just look up right now?

Charlie Hall: Christ has died and Christ is risen and Christ will come again

Chan: Interrupt what we have and come again. We come in faith saying that. Open our hearts. Enlighten us that we can understand You better.

When Christine Caine was talking earlier, she blew my mind.

Every time she said something, I wanted to say YES YES AMEN! But I didn’t want to offend anyone. I was very reserved.

We can do this if we refuse to be reserved. The word the Lord gave me was ugly. It’s not human trafficking. It’s little girls are getting raped right now. I hope that moves you.

The first verse I memorized in high-school was Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the Gospel.

I’m not ashamed when i’m in this room full of believers.

God, I want to be a person who is never ashamed.

I was in Korea a few weeks ago and I was really nervous because about 1.5 million people were watching.

The Koreans were praying that God would speak through Him.

They started singing a song in Korean which was a prayer. All of those people were praying that God would speak through me.

Would you just bow your heads right now and please pray for me. It’s awkward to ask you this, but will you just pray for me.

I want to sit here and tell you to read this book for yourself (The Bible) Just read it over and over and over again. As I prayed for you..you hear so many noise and lies. The word of God….Read it!

Seriously believe the promises in this book.

I think the greatest thing that could happen is for many of you to leave here serious about the Bible…

…and seriously believing the promises held in the Bible.

I pray that you read the Bible and believe it because so many people will lie to you – telling you what to hear.

LiveAtPassionChan: Some Jehovah Witnesses stopped by and I asked if I could share some amazing things God has done for me recently. #Passion20121/3/12 8:31 PM

God doesn’t listen to everyone. If we have selfish motives that He’s not gonna listen to that. The Bible talks about how if I don’t treat my wife with honor that my prayers could be hindered.

Chan says they replied saying, God doesn’t listen to everyone. He agreed, but said, “God listens to me.

I read the Bible for myself and I study it and I pray to that God and He listens to me.

I gotta ask you, how do you know I’m telling you the truth?

Do you know the book well enough, because I just think people are going to lie to you your whole life.

I was reading in 1st Kings 15 the other day…and this started to freak me out.

This man of God said i’m not suppose to spend the night. I gotta get out of here.

Chan now reads from 1 Kings 22:6.

I get very concerned that more and more people are just believing the Bible and not taking the obvious teaching in it.

You may already be doing this; where you have a desire in your heart and you justify it in the Bible.

Give me a book where it tells me it’s okay to buy a Ferrari and live in luxury? You’ll find it.

We don’t really want to know what the Bible says, we just want to use it to justify what we want. I get so concerned.

That’s why I wrote the book “Erasing Hell”.

Chan says you can’t take the flood and the plagues of Egypt literally, but discount the events in Revelations as figurative.

A couple of weeks ago, a guy walks up and says to me, “No offense, but every time you speak, I could do that.

All you do is read a passage of scripture and say, ‘You guys… you gotta do it!’”

Chan is teaching on Luke 14:2 now.

LiveAtPassionChan: When I throw a party for the poor, the lame, the weak, and I get so excited… I wonder if that’s what God feels about me. #Passion20121/3/12 8:55 PM

Do you take this literally? Do you relive believe that you need to make disciples?

We talk about human trafficking. The solution is to make disciples. It’s changing people’s hearts.

The people you go to school with some will be victims of human trafficking and some will be the culprits.

Some of the people you go to school with will be victims and others will be perpetrators.

1st Samuel 13

LiveAtPassionChan: Verse 5, the Philistines rallied their forces to fight Israel. When the Israelites saw they were outnumbered, they hid. #Passion20121/3/12 8:59 PM

In chapter 14 Jonathan (Saul’s Son) said, “Come on, let’s go over to the Philistine garrison patrol.”

Jonathan shouted to his armor bearer, “Up! Follow me! God has turned them over to Israel!”

Verse 14 – In this first bloody encounter, Jonathan and his armor bearer killed about 20 men. The earth started shaking.

Saul gathers his army and says, “Let’s go! Let’s get out of this cave and go!” Verse 22 – The Hebrews who had earlier defected to the Philistine camp came back. They now wanted to be with Israel under Saul.

I just thought, man… I don’t want to be in that last group.

I started this journey at Passion about 5-6 years ago and I said, hasn’t it always bothered you…

…that you read the Bible then go to Church and see that it really doesn’t add up?

I believe there are Jonathan’s in this room, that think while other’s are hiding, I can do this.

Can I just pray for you right now. I want to pray in faith though.

Remember, we’re praying to the God of the Bible. There are stories in the Bible where people would pray and the building would shake.

We’re speaking to that same God, who parted the Red Sea. We’re about to talk to him. Who spoke everything into existence.

God. We want to see more of you.

God, I think you could do anything you wanted. We want to see you. We don’t want to make anything up, Lord.

We want to believe that the Holy Spirit, God’s Spirit, is inside of our bodies. We want to be strong and courageous Lord, knowing that Christ will come again.

Some of us tonight want to believe your Word that You really love us, and that we are secure in the cross.

With great joy we surrender our lives to You. God, make us believers. Give us faith.

Fill us now, God. Fill us with the truth of your Word & the power of your spirit. Don’t let these students be deceived.

Francis Chan walks to the back of the stage and kneels as Chris Tomlin sings “I Will Follow”

Post Speaking Song List:

1. I Will Follow You – Chris Tomlin with Christy, choir, and band backup NEW SONG

This is my anthem. My life for Your fame. My every move bring glory to Your name. I will follow You. I will follow You.

Chan: There’s no turning back. Don’t listen to the other voices. There’s no turning back.

Don’t give up your life. It’s not worth it. He’s worth dying for. He’s going to return again. No turning back.

2. White Flag – Chris Tomlin with Christy, Stanfill, choir and band backup NEW SONG

We lift the cross, lift it high.

Louie Giglio walks back on stage, “Come on let’s raise a shout out here tonight.

Louie can’t get a word in because of all the applause and cheers.

What we’re praying for tonight was “Take Us” We’ve spent way too long giving God advice.

Our prayer life could be reduced by just saying “Take Us”

Louie gives instructions on the upcoming community groups at 9 ET, followed by the Hillsong United concert at 11:30 ET.

Want to know how we’re doing on the giving?

This morning we were up to $72k (before the morning session).

Since this morning, you’ve given $550,507 to help end slavery.

I just need you to know that we would never be accused of counting you out.

If you happen to go over $1 million dollars, we wouldn’t be caught off-guard. Guess what? We have the next bank of causes waiting.

*Notes are my own and may or may not reflect what Francis Chan really said in this session.

You’re like a pro at blogging conferences Brian. I love your notes, and especially like how you include the set list and who was singing each. Going to pass your notes along to others as well!

    • http://lifexpresseddigitally.me Brian Alexander

No problem Becky! :) If you do please make sure that you link back to my site, and cite me saying that the notes were mine. If you want me to email you the notes I can put them all in a PDF once the conference is over.

      • http://tijuanabecky.wordpress.com Becky

The PDF would be great or if you do a summary blog post with all the links that works too. I mentioned your blog to my friends on Facebook and just gave the link and mentioned you’re a pro at blogging them. You’ve been cited!

        • http://lifexpresseddigitally.me Brian Alexander

Becky, What I will most likely do is upload a PDF in a blog post here on the site, and then give the opportunity for people to download it in whatever format is best for them.

Thanks for the link! You are the greatest! All Glory to God!

          • http://tijuanabecky.wordpress.com Becky

            That works!

  • Joaquin

Thank you so much for these notes, Brian! I really appreciate it. They are great to read and see. Thank you!

I had a question on the song from Chris Tomlin called “Yahweh” I was just wondering if this was a new song because I have not heard this rendition before.

    Thank you! And God bless!

    Joaquin

PS: I am loving this idea to download the notes, too! Great idea.

    • http://lifexpresseddigitally.me Brian Alexander

Joaquin, Yes that song by Tomlin is a new song. Sorry that I didn’t note that in the post.

Thanks for the kind words. Keep sharing my notes with others, but make sure you cite me.

Perhaps, I was inattantive, but I couldn’t find one little detail in this post: if this could be a Wourld tour or just in USA?

    • http://lifexpresseddigitally.me Brian Alexander

Thanks for the comment Anne, and i’m not sure if it is or not.
