My Radio Audition

Sometimes when you are looking for a job, the best ones aren’t the ones that you find, but the ones that find you. I was browsing Facebook the other day, like I always do, and I stumbled across an event for an audition at a radio station in Ohio. I clicked on the event page, curious to find out more about what the station audition was about. Come to find out the station is looking for new dj’s to be a part of their station.

The audition involved a submitting a video via youtube, or vimeo to them using a script that they provided. The station, RadioU, based out of the Columbus area of Ohio, was looking for a few extra hands. I have always been a fan of this station ever since I had first discovered it and never dreamed that I would be auditioning for a dj position with them one day. Well, turns out that I DID. First lets take a look at the rules for the audition so you can see what I had to follow when recording my audition. Then you will see my audition in all of it’s glory.

The Low-down (Rules)

My Audtion

I took my audition down as requested by RadioU since the audition period is over.

Have you ever done anything like this before? Tell me about it!

*UPDATE: I heard back from Nikki Cantu at RadioU this morning. They had a lot of submissions this year and will be adding those people to their on air rotation, but did not accept me at this time. At least I applied. You can’t get something if you don’t work for it. Simple enough.

This fall season marks the 10th Anniversary of Green River Ordinance as a band. In 2009 and 2010, GRO saw tastes of much sought after success: 2 Top 40 radio singles, songs on over 20 TV shows (“So You Think You Can Dance”, “The Hills”, “The Young & Restless”), 2 music videos on MTV and VH1, tours with American Idol winners David Cook & Kris Allen, Goo Goo Dolls, Collective Soul, Train, Lifehouse, and many others. GRO’s Original Song “Rise Up” was featured on the AT&T Team USA 2010 Winter Olympics Soundtrack alongside Mariah Carey, 3 Doors Down, Train, Rascal Flatts.

I have been listening to these guys for the past few months and love their unique sound. Their sons are really inspring and I know you will love them. You can take a listen to a sample of their song, “Out of My Hands” in the player below. If you can’t get enough you can check out their whole album on rdio.com.

Have a great Tuesday!

So what do you think? Let me know whats currently playing on your itunes playlist. I love hearing new music and discovering bands I’ve never listened to before.

  • Lists are great for blogs. They are one type of blog post. Check out the other 25 types.
  • I’ve been really loving this song by Jesus Culture the past 3 days. HT: Elevation Worship for playing it on Saturday night at the Matthews campus.
  • Have you heard of Sons & Daughters? They are also really talented. I posted one of their videos on twitter this morning. Check it out.
  • I’m thinking about relationships and dating a lot lately. I’m sure i’ll have a few posts on that coming up.
  • One more semester at NGU this fall. I’m ready to be graduated.
  • My brother started his new job this morning at RedHype Ad Agency. Check out his sweet workspace.  If you are interested in anything relating to graphic design I would highly suggest that you give him a follow on twitter. He’s always posting relevant content on there.
  • Started Leonard Sweet’s book The Gospel According to Starbucks: Living With a Grande Passion. The introduction has already blown my mind. It gives stats on how many people drink coffee worldview, how it is impacting the world health wise, and how we can learn so much from corporate giant, Starbucks and how it tells us so much about our culture.
  • It’s going to be a good week. I can feel it!

How is your Monday going? Got any awesome links to share with our community? Have you had at least 2 cups already today?

Sometimes the best blog posts come out of challenges from friends. Just when I think I have nothing to write about, BAM! The Tentblogger himself, John Saddington, hits me with another topic to write about.

Why Don't You Hit Me With Your Best Shot! (Image Source: Stock.xchng)

The Topic:

What does “good enough” mean to you? How do you define it and how does it impact your blogging?

Here are my Thoughts:

This guy could be talking about his blog

Good enough to me is when I am able to hit that publish button on one of my blog posts knowing that somebody is going to read my blog and take something from it. How do I know this? Normally, I don’t know right off hand. I try to bring up a blog post in conversation and see if I can get somebody to talk about it with me before I commit to publishing it. When people are able to talk about what I am thinking, and when I am able to express my thoughts TO people I feel like a blog post is “good enough.”

It took time for me to hit publish on this blog post too! I have been sitting on it for the past 2 days. I wasn’t challenged with this today. John wrote that post on Saturday. I have been thinking about this idea for the past 2 days and trying to figure out how I would get this idea across. I don’t like to just publish anything on my blog. I want my writings to add value to your life as readers. Let me know how I am doing in the comments below if you don’t mind.

What does “Good enough” mean to you?

Google is at it again. Taking over the world one application at a time. You’ve heard of Soundcloud right? We’ll basically it’s a way to sync all of your music to the cloud. When I say cloud, I mean the web, internet, inter-webs, or whatever the cool kids are calling it these days. With Google’s Music Beta you will able to do so much more. Here is a look at what Music Beta has to offer.

  • Listen anywhere, even offline.
  • Stay in sync, without the hassle.
  • Your collection, now in one place.

    UPDATE: I got my invite.

Here’s a bio straight from the band.

We’re a four piece rock band from Minneapolis. We’ve been creating music since 2002, and have played everywhere from garage shows to high-wattage mainstage festival sets. We love bands like Switchfoot and Anberlin, but we really enjoy hanging out with our local friends and their bands whenever we’re not on the road. You can catch us at a show, we’ll either be playing it or we’ll be hanging out. The only things we like more than a rock show are sunsets and long walks on beaches.

I haven’t know about these guys for that long, but I know one thing about them. They love Jesus. The music they are creating is for Him and inspired by Him. That’s epic! I’d love to hear what you guys think. Take a listen to the sample below and leave your comments below.
