Distraction

Brian Alexander —  April 23, 2011 — 6 Comments

I was challenged by my friend John to write about distraction. It’s something that I am currently struggling with so it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time to accept the challenge to blog about it.

I am currently trying to write a legal brief for Mass Media Law & Regulations as a part of my undergraduate degree at North Greenville University. This is the second legal brief that I am writing for this class. I made a 90% of the first one, so i’m not too worried about my grade on this one, however, we have to have 5 more sources for this one, equaling 25 total. Let’s just be real for a minute. That’s CRAZY!

Yesterday I completed my title page, introduction and first source. Today I accomplished a little bit more. I battled disruptions all day long. This paper is due on Monday and I need to work on other projects for other classes as well. Why can’t things like ADD, and ADHD not exist in our world? Hyper-activity is something that a ton of people struggle with. Who’s fault is that? I don’t have an answer to that question. Think about it!

This is never a good sign

Blogging can even be a disruption. As I was writing this post I came across the gray box of death on my MacbookPro.

Thankfully wordpress saved a draft of my blog post so I didn’t loose much. Social media is defiantly a distraction. Twitter, FB, YouTube. IDK how many hours i’ve spent of my life on YouTube just watching lame videos when i’ve had more important things to do.

Speaking of more important things. This paper, like I said, it’s due Monday. It needs to be finished!

When have you been disrupted? Tell me about it!

The Black Keys are a two-man blues-rock group from Akron, Ohio, United States which formed in 2001, consisting of singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. The band name was inspired by a schizophrenic artist and friend in Akron, who used the term “black keys” to describe things he disliked or people he did not trust. The Black Keys have roots in traditional blues and  stylings. [Source: Last.FM]

I have been listening to these guys for a while now and figured that it was time to pass them along to you. I love their unique sound and all of their songs are just down right catchy. I love it! Check out a sample of “Everlasting Light” below!

What do you think? Let me know whats currently playing on your itunes playlist. I love hearing new music and discovering bands I’ve never listened to before. What are you listening to right now?

In certain regions of Ethiopia, wearing shoes and practicing good hygiene can prevent podoconiosis, a disease that causes swelling of the feet and legs due to prolonged exposure to irritant soil. In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, our partners work with HIV positive and street children, giving shoes to protect them from the dangerous city streets littered with glass, metal, and even sewage. Evidently there are a lot of companies poking around fun online today, like Hulu, Youtube, etc.

Happy April Fools day! :) What other videos have you seen around the web today?
