Archives For January 2010

You can’t really tell from this picture, because I took this when the snow started to fall, bu

The viral facebook status updates about what color bra you are wearing were all over facebook today. If you didn’t see them today you probably didn’t look hard enough. Just sayin’.

Detroit blog suggests that the color update craze was started by women in Detroit who are trying to raise awareness around Breast Cancer (though October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Another blog backs-up that notion and includes the following Facebook message:

“Some fun is going on…. just write the color of your bra in your status. Just the color, nothing else. It will be neat to see if this will spread the wings of breast cancer awareness. It will be fun to see how long it takes before people wonder why all the girls have a color in their status… Haha .”

First of all, I don’t see how changing your status to a certain color makes any difference in supporting breast cancer, but that could just be me. I’d like an explination of why people think their “status” on facebook can change the world? I’m all for causes in support of breast cancer, my grandma even had it at one point, but we need to chill out on the status thing and actually support these causes fiancially. Don’t ya think?

Chillipepper 2010

I got an email from Bill Cox last night asking me if I would be interested in volunteering for Chillipepper this year and without hesitation I said yes. Chillipepper is a winter retreat for student ministries in the area of North and South Carolina. People from all over the area bring their youth groups to get fired up for a weekend and it’s really incredible. I have participated the past 2 years and really love what Concoxions (the ministry group) is doing.

This year the artists/bands playing are: Fee, Stellar Kart, and Rush of Fools. I get to help set up, tear down, and do live visual things during the conference and I am really really excited about it. I can’t stop thinking about it. It will be in Pigeon Forge, TN so i’ll be headed up that way from here on Thursday. I am really looking forward to learning more about live event production and possibly getting an internship with them for the summer.
